Kanye West is known for his surprising antics, but no one saw it coming when he announced his marriage to Bianca Censori in January 2023. It wasn’t even publicly known that the rapper was involved with the Yeezy employee prior to their nuptials.
Apparently, the marriage isn’t legal, as the couple haven’t applied for a license. But reports say they do consider their union legitimate (and may have even married for religious reasons).
Nevertheless, Kanye and Bianca have been spotted hanging out with the four children he shares with Kim Kardashian. Many people are wondering what the kids’ relationship with Bianca is like, and if they were as surprised by Ye’s marriage as the rest of the world was. Here’s what we know about Bianca’s relationship with Kanye’s kids, including whether they’re calling her ‘step-mom.’
Kanye’s Kids Are Just Getting To Know His New Wife
It’s been confirmed that at least some of Kanye’s children have met Bianca, since they’ve been photographed spending time altogether as a family unit.
Shortly after the wedding news broke, Kanye and Bianca were spotted going out for dinner with his eldest child, daughter North, 9, and one of her friends. The group dined at Nobu, though North and her pal were dropped off by a security team after Kanye and Bianca arrived.
While Bianca is clearly spending time with Kanye’s children, it’s unclear what they refer to her as. There’s no evidence to suggest they’re calling her ‘step-mom,’ though there’s also nothing to imply Ye doesn’t want his children to call his new wife this.
It’s also unclear when Kanye’s children met Bianca. The couple weren’t publicly photographed together until January, though Kanye made a reference to his future bride in December with the release of his song “Censori Overload.”
But Kanye’s kids were seen spending time with her until after the wedding, so there’s a chance they didn’t meet her until after, too. If this is the case, it’s even more unlikely that they’ve begun calling her ‘step-mom.’
Kim Kardashian Has Already Set Ground Rules With Bianca
Moreover, it’s probable that Kim Kardashian would have a problem with her kids calling Bianca ‘step-mom.’ It’s likely that Kim first met Bianca when she was still married to Kanye. The Australian native was hired as architectural designer at Yeezy in November 2020, so may have been interacting with Ye on a regular basis.
One report from Page Six claims that Kim could sense Kanye’s attraction to Bianca, and it became well-known at Yeezy that Kim had a disdain for Bianca.
“Kim hates her,” a source told Page Six of Kim’s feelings towards Bianca.
Despite possible resentment, Kim has made an effort to establish boundaries with Bianca. In January, a report said that Kim was hoping to meet with Kanye’s new wife to set ground rules.
“She’s sent a message through her team to Kanye’s team, basically saying congratulations, and given that it looks like Bianca may soon becoming a step-mom to the kids, she would like to have a sit down to get to know her in a private meeting,” a source explained.
Kim was likely trying to establish Bianca’s relationship with her kids and what she’s comfortable with, including if using a term like ‘step-mom’ was okay with her or not.
Moreover, the insider claims that Kim did a background check on Ye’s new wife. “She already has started to vet her, which is standard for anyone that comes into contact with her children and will have access to them,” the source explained.
It’s unclear what kind of conversation Kim has had with Bianca, if any, and what she prefers her kids refer to their father’s new wife as.
The Kardashians Are Big Supporters Of Blended Families
The Kardashian-Jenner clan is complicated, but they’re big on co-parenting. Despite scandals and heartbreak, the family is known for trying to include both sides of the children’s family.
For instance, Kourtney Kardashian continued to invite Scott Disick (the father of her three children) to family vacations despite their 2015 break-up. She’s also been very inclusive of her new husband Travis Barker’s three kids. Khloe Kardashian has also included Tristan Thompson in family moments and gatherings, despite his history of infidelity. He was even recently spotted spending time with Kim Kardashian and her kids.
Another example is the family’s relationship with Blac Chyna. They have a long history, with Chyna even (unsuccessfully) suing the family following the cancellation of her reality show.
But since Chyna is the mother to Rob Kardashian’s daughter, Dream, his sisters have emphasized that it’s important they never publicly criticize their niece’s mother out of respect for their relationship.
