An infamous UFO photo that mysteriously went missing for 30 years has finally been uncovered, sparking a fresh investigation into the groundbreaking image.
The picture, dubbed the “Calvine Photograph” was considered lost for decades but was discovered after years of research by UFO expert journalist Dr David Clarke.
Taken at around 9pm on August 4, 1990 by two hikers near Calvine in Scotland, the photograph appears to show a large diamond-shaped flying metal object which was hovering above the ground.
The photographers, whose identities are still not known, took six pictures of the object which was said to be about 30m long. It then shot straight up into the sky and has apparently never been seen, or photographed again.
In the picture, a fighter jet can be seen in the background but it’s not known if that plane was following the UFO.
In October 2021, Scottish Operations Record Books were checked but there was no reference to any aircraft flying over that area on the day of the incident.

Back in 1990, the photo was given to Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper and it was then passed onto the Ministry of Defence but it was never seen again, until now.
Dr Clarke, who has worked as a curator at The National Archives in Britain and is an associate professor at Sheffield Hallam University, managed to track down the important photo by contacting the former RAF press officer Craig Lindsay.

Lindsay had kept a copy of the image back in 1990 and he agreed to hand it over to a UFO campaign group called UAP Media UK which has made the picture public.
Now, fresh questions are being asked about the photo and exactly what it is. One theory is that the flying saucer was an experimental US aircraft called the Aurora during a test flight.
However, there’s been no confirmation of this by British or American authorities, but UFO enthusiasts believe that the hypersonic spy plane was being tested across the skies above the UK in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Graeme Rendall, from UAP Media UK, said: “We may not be any closer knowing exactly what the object seen over Calvine in August 1990 was, or who it belonged to, but an important piece of the puzzle has dropped into place due to diligent research.”
Dan Zetterstrom, also from the group, added: “The Calvine photograph stands as one of the biggest mysteries in UFO history.
