For the first time in quite a while, it seemed like the West had become the weaker of the two conferences. A lot of the teams weren’t quite living up to expectations and there was a sense that the conference was there for the taking for anyone who could make that big move before the trade deadline.
The Dallas Mavericks were the first to make a splash, as they traded for Kyrie Irving, only for the Phoenix Suns to one-up them by acquiring Kevin Durant. The Mavs and the Suns have shaken up the conference, but Anthony Edwards isn’t too concerned about it.

Edwards has never been short on confidence and while Durant and Kyrie are two of the greats of this generation, he is of the belief that he is just as good as them.
Anthony Edwards: “I think I’m just as good as [KD and Kyrie].”
While you can clown on him, that is the mindset that one needs to have. Edwards would undoubtedly have a lot of respect for both of them, especially Durant, whom he once called the GOAT, but that self-belief is important if he and the Minnesota Timberwolves are to have success moving forward.
JJ Redick Had Some Big Praise For Anthony Edwards
It was a slow start to the season for Edwards which led to many questioning if he had what it takes to be a star. All of those concerns have now been brushed aside as Edwards has been great as the season has gone on, which led to him being named an All-Star.
He is now averaging 24.9 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 4.5 APG, with all of them being career highs. JJ Redick thinks Edwards has now taken that jump that many were expecting him to and has elevated his game to the next level. He has also helped the Timberwolves somewhat steady the ship and they’ll be counting on him to take them to the playoffs.
