After announcing her forthcoming half-time performance at the Super Bowl 57 next month, all eyes have been on Rihanna, because we knew she’d be coming back with a bang.
And the Rude Boy singer did just that when she announced her “Game Day” clothing collaboration last week. Released through her brand Savage x Fenty, the collection consists of 17 capsule pieces dedicated to her performance.

Our favourite piece from the collection – which encapsulates the mood of the whole event – was a slogan t-shirt (a Y2K style that fashionista’s like Bella Hadid are bringing into 2023). The tee reads “Rihanna concert interrupted by a football game, weird but whatever.” Say no more.
Making February 12 (for her performance, not the game) even more hotly anticipated than before, she dropped a teaser video to mark the occasion. And it was her hair that captured attention this time.
Her hair is a work of art
Appearing from a dark room into a single spotlight, Rihanna struts in knowing that she’s the coolest person on Earth right now. She’s wearing a bodycon black jumpsuit with stirrup leggings, with the ultimate mustard coloured fur coat fit for a Queen. Her bijouterie is no less staggering – layers of silver necklaces are matched with quite possibly the largest hoop earrings known to man.
If that wasn’t cool enough, her hair is twisted and braided upright to create quite literally, a hair sculpture. Wires are holding some parts upright, whilst other parts are braided and tied into a top knot. The captivating style creates a phenomenal silhouette when her shadow is formed behind the light. If you want a show stopping headpiece for an occasion, forget Kylie Jenner’s vintage Mugler look, save money and use your own hair to create an architectural masterpiece.

Her yellow coat is as iconic as her hairdo
Over the top of the video, snippets from journalists, song lyrics and presenters alike are mashed together, all of which highlight the legend’s music hiatus. Audio clips include “It’s been over six years since the nine time Grammy winner dropped her last album”, and another exclaiming “RiRi where have you been?”. Whilst it’s playing the singer is ethereally flailing her arms like she’s floating (we’d feel like we were floating too if we were as iconic as her)
At the end, the singer puts her finger to her lips and shushes, as if to say “you can stop now, I’m back”.
Oh RiRi, we cannot contain our excitement.
