Manchester United are unlikely to sign Argentina forward this summer.
After allowing Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club towards the end of 2022, United are likely to be in the market for a new striker when the transfer window reopens.
They did, of course, recruit Wout Weghorst last month. But having brought the Dutchman in on loan from Burnley, he only looks like a short-term fix for the Manchester outfit.
What has Dean Jones said about Paulo Dybala and Man United?
Jones doubts United or any other English club will sign Dybala this summer.
Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “I don’t know if he’s a good fit and also, I don’t see him coming to England right now. I think that it’s very unlikely that Paulo Dybala comes to England at all in the summer transfer window.”Should Man United make a move for Paulo Dybala?
If they cannot land Kane or Osimhen, then Dybala would by no means be a terrible alternative, especially with Calciomercato claiming that he could cost just over £10m.
Described as a “world-class talent” by Serie A analyst Matteo Bonetti, the Argentina international has quite an impressive goalscoring record.
At Juventus, Dybala really stood out, scoring 115 times in 293 appearances before moving to Roma last summer, as per Transfermarkt.
Speaking about the ex-Palermo player last month, Roma legend Francesco Totti told Sport Mediaset: “Dybala is a phenomenon, a player who is above the others and has always proved his worth.
“I am happy that he joined Roma because he deserves it and because the city must have a player of his value. You can understand when players are special – he’s proving so with great performances. We are happy to have him at Roma. We are enjoying his performance.”
All in all, it looks like Kane and Osimhen are at the top of Erik ten Hag’s list, but Dybala, who is earning around £140,000 a week at Roma, according to Capology, could be a more than decent back-up option for United this summer.
Manchester United are unlikely to sign AS Roma forward Paulo Dybala in the summer, transfer insider Dean Jones has informed GiveMeSport.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Jones cannot see him leaving Italy for England in the next window.Man United transfer news – Paulo Dybala
According to Calciomercato, United are interested in both Dybala and his Roma team-mate Tammy Abraham.
The Italian outlet suggests that the pair could become options for the Red Devils if they fail to sign Tottenham’s Harry Kane or Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in the summer.
Major Man Utd decision threatens to undo Ten Hag progress and split dressing room down the middle
The idea of bringing Mason Greenwood back into the fold at Man Utd is already dividing the dressing room, and who will make the final decision has been revealed.
The 21-year-old has not featured for club or country since January of 2022. Greenwood was arrested just over one year ago and was subsequently suspended indefinitely by Manchester United.
However, on February 2 of this year, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges levied against Greenwood back in October.
Explaining the decision, the CPS cited “the withdrawal of key witnesses” and the emergence of “new material.”
Responding to the decision to drop the charges, Greenwood said: “I am relieved this matter is now over. I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.”
United later released a statement of their own that revealed they’d conduct an internal investigation before determining their next course of action.
The club’s official statement read: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.
“The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”
The question of whether Greenwood could be brought back into the fold at Old Trafford has lingered throughout the month. Now, a report from the Times has shed light on the situation.
The publication claim ‘some members’ of United’s women’s team have ‘serious concerns’ over the idea of Greenwood returning to training.
The women’s team share the Carrington facilities with the men’s team and it’s claimed they ‘do not expect’ Greenwood to be recalled.
Some members within the men’s team also ‘harbour concerns’ about reintegrating Greenwood, though that’s not a viewpoint shared by everyone in the dressing room. Others, it’s claimed, ‘would have no objection’.
The Times add non-playing female staff members around the club ‘would object’ to Greenwood’s return. Elsewhere, it’s understood concerns have been raised by some of the club’s commercial partners.
While echoing many of the Times’ sentiments, the Mirror added the decision on whether to bring Greenwood back into the mix will not be made by Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff.
Instead, they claim Greenwood has been informed the call ‘would be taken by the club and not the management team.’
