A woman from Saransk, Russia, once made the world stir with suspicion that supernatural abilities really existed.
Natalya “Natasha” Nikolayevna Demkina is a Russian woman who claims to have special eyes that allow her to see inside the human body with all its organs and tissues, from which medical diagnoses can be made. department. Born in 1987, Natasha was once noticed by the Western media with the nickname “X-ray girl” and was sent to scientific trials in the US and Japan, with mixed and controversial results.
At the age of 10, Natasha revealed that she possessed unusual eyesight. “ I was at home with my mother and suddenly I had a vision ,” she recalls her first experience with the phenomenon.
“I could see inside my mother’s body and I started telling her about the organs I could see. Now, I have to move from conventional vision to what I call medical vision. For a split second, I see a colorful picture inside a person and then I begin to analyze it.”
At first, people thought that the young girl simply had an overactive imagination; that she was just joking. Before long, however, it became clear to them that what she “sees” is quite accurate.
People say Natasha can see everything that an X-ray machine or a doctor can’t see. Soon after, she began performing “diagnostics” of people in Russia, many of whom also relied on her medical judgment rather than the opinions of trained professionals.
At the age of 17, Natasha’s name spread around the world after being invited to participate in a British TV show to demonstrate her abilities. She was then introduced to appear on a Discovery Channel show called The Girl With X-Ray Eyes.
When asked to demonstrate her skills, Natalya performed quite well. She was asked to analyze a group of people and point out the abnormalities she found in their bodies, and most said she was right. She can detect migraines in one woman, endometriosis in another, and heart defects in a man.
However, scientists do not think that this “supernatural ability” of Natasha is real. Therefore, they decided to find the truth behind this story.
To prove that the girl did not have any extraordinary abilities, Richard Wiseman, a professor of Psychology of Public Understanding and a group of skeptics devised an experiment.
They picked out 6 people with some or different physical problems. These health problems were written down on a piece of paper, explaining their location in the body and including photos, Natasha was asked to identify the owners of these health problems.
It took her more than four hours to complete the test, and even then she matched only 4 out of 6 participants correctly. Some say that this is indeed a high score, and that Natasha possesses at least some psychic ability.
However, upon scrutinizing the results, among her missteps, Natasha failed to notice a large metal plate in the skull of a man who had previously suffered from a brain tumor. So they assumed that it looked like the results she got were simply guesswork or luck. Despite this, Natasha is still considered by many to have psychic abilities to this day.
