Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested that the Reds will not be busy on the incomings front on deadline day but has requested what would be a shock move for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante
Liverpool appear to have concluded all of their business before deadline day – or so we thought.
The Reds very quickly sealed a deal for PSV’s star forward Cody Gakpo early in the window. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that his side were not expecting to rubber-stamp any deals on the final day of the January window.
Speaking after his side’s FA Cup defeat to Brighton, he said: “No, nothing will happen in this transfer window.”
Despite that, rumours continue to swirl regarding arrivals and departures at Anfield with less than 24 hours of the window remaining. Take a look at the standouts below:
Klopp makes Kante request
Regardless of Klopp having confirmed that his side will not be making any surprise signings on deadline day, that has not stopped the German from lodging an outlandish request with the Anfield hierarchy. According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Klopp has requested that the club make a move for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.
The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the campaign and it appears unlikely that he will put pen to paper on a new deal with the Blues. The Reds desperately need more support in midfield with Kante having been sounded out by Klopp as an ideal option.
It is suggested that he won’t come cheap though with the Frenchman currently boasting one of the most lucrative pay packets in the Premier League.
Berge agent travels for talks

One option that has been linked with a move to Anfield over recent seasons is Sheffield United star Sander Berge. Whilst links have gone somewhat quiet over the past year, it appears that his agent is still remaining positive.
As per TV2 Sport, the midfielder’s agent has arrived in London in anticipation of a bid for his services. Fulham are most likely to make a swoop for his services in the region of £20m, whilst Newcastle and Brighton are admirers.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool re-enter the race for his services and if indeed Berge does get his move to the Premier League.
Wonderkid set for Anfield exit
Away from incomings, it appears that Liverpool youngster Luke Chambers is in line for a move away from Merseyside. According to The Athletic, the 18-year-old is set for a loan move to Scottish side Kilmarnock.
It would represent the academy graduate’s first spell in senior football having made his way up through the youth ranks with Liverpool. He has twice made it on the bench for the side this season – once in the Carabao Cup and once in the Premier League.
