Hell hath no fury like The View fans scorned — and ABC should take notes. Just as Ana Navarro was getting all fired up about Rep. George Santos allegedly dressing up in drag in the past, despite aligning with Republicans who’ve condemned the practice, the network cut to a breaking news report about Alec Baldwin, leaving many viewers furious that they couldn’t hear the rest of the co-host’s opinion.
The report revealed that Baldwin is being charged on two counts of involuntary manslaughter. The actor was holding the gun that fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza on the set of the film Rust in October 2021.
Despite the national breaking news, The View fans couldn’t care less about the special report — or Baldwin, for that matter. Instead, they took to Twitter to blast ABC for not holding off until the end of today’s episode to share the charges.
“Here’s my big question: Why the fuck did they interrupt #TheView for breaking news on Alec Baldwin?” one fan asked.
Another pointed out, “Did ABC really just interrupt #TheView to give ‘Breaking News’ about the movie set shooting involving Alec Baldwin? This could’ve waited until noon.”
“What the Frig! I tuned in for The View not Alex Baldwin,” someone else fumed. “Dang! What’s with ABC? Get off our show. I was about to hear Ana Navarro’s opinion on Santos. This could have waited till noon news!”
Another added, “ABC this could have waited! News at noon would have sufficed.. ABC News lawyers #TheView”
“They really interrupted @ananavarrofor this about Alec Baldwin?” someone noted. “Of course, @ABC is going to drag out this ‘breaking news.’ ”
One fan wrote, “Why didn’t they interrupt to tell us about the #DebtCeiling if they were going to break in? That’s news. Alec Baldwin is not.”
“@ABC this shit could’ve waited! This is NOT ‘breaking news!’” another chimed in while someone else scoffed, “Not them interrupting #TheView about Alec Baldwin!!!! Please!!!”
It’s a good thing Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin were absent from today’s episode — we can only imagine the fury if fans missed what they had to say.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC — hopefully without any more interruptions.
